As the video shows, Waves Mercury Bundle is a huge library containing over 100 plugins, and 250+ individual components. Containing everything from EQs; compressors; and reverbs; to amp & stompbox simulation; tuning; and signature plugins by Chris Lord-Alge, Jack Joseph Puig, Tony Maserati, and Eddie Kramer.
The full list of plugins on offer here is too extensive to explain fully, but they’re organised in terms of “collections”. The API range consists of three classic ’60s EQ units and a compressor, fully emulated with accurate UIs. The C-1, C-4, and C-6 (as the initial suggests) are dynamics processors, with a much more modern look and feel. The GTR-3 collection again does what you may expect, recreating classic guitar tones.
Unlike Logic’s Guitar Amp Pro or Steinberg GuitarAmp however, there’s more to GTR-3 than that. You get 25 separate amps choices (and 7 more for Bass), 25 stomp boxes, a tuner, and the standalone ToolRack host to enable live use. L-1 through L-3 give you a range of hard limiting (or “maximizing”) options; the Renaissance collection offers a wealth more guitar, bass, vocal, and studio effects; and the 7 “OneKnob” plugins are an excellent way of getting clear, pro sounds with minimal tweaking.
On top of all these studio effects and processors, Waves Mercury Bundle gives you access to 3 signature lines. These sets are a neat way to recreate the go-to sounds of Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Dave Matthews Band, Stone Temple Pilots), Jack Joseph Puig (Robbie Williams, Sheryl Crow, U2), Tony Maserati (Jennifer Lopez, Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa), and Eddie Kramer (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin).
The signature sets are essentially effects chains for each engineer’s go-to sounds. The plugins cover Drums, Bass, Acoustic & Electric guitars, Vocals, and Piano/strings processing. Although the character of each sound is set, there are a number of parameters in each plugin for the user to adjust based on the song they are mixing.
Between the various lines of FX, you get EQs, compressors, limiters, reverbs, effects, and guitar tones – plus all the classic unique sounds of 4 big hitters. As an upgrade from using stock plugins, Waves Mercury is a one-stop-shop for vintage and modern processing sounds.
The package is available in VST, AU, and RTAS formats.
